Consistent explanation for the cosmic-ray positron excess in p-wave Breit–Wigner enhanced dark matter annihilation

چکیده

Dark matter (DM) annihilation in the galactic halo can be enhanced relative to that early Universe due Breit-Wigner enhancement, if DM particles annihilate through a narrow resonance. Although $s$-wave enhancement provide consistent explanation for both observed cosmic-ray (CR) positron excess and thermal relic density, it is severely constrained by observations of gamma rays from dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies (dSphs) cosmic microwave background (CMB), which have relatively lower allowed cross section typical velocities than halo. Furthermore, case where resonance mass below threshold (twice mass) ruled out monotonically increasing with decreasing velocity. In this work, we consider $p$-wave annihilation. We explore parameter regions simultaneously account CR density without violating constraints dSphs CMB. show velocity-dependent scenario peak around velocity above threshold. Moreover, highly suppressed at extremely low evade CMB easily, results larger case.

Consistent scenarios for cosmic-ray excesses from Sommerfeld- enhanced dark matter annihilation

Anomalies in direct and indirect detection have motivated models of dark matter consisting of a multiplet of nearly-degenerate states, coupled by a new GeV-scale interaction. We perform a careful analysis of the thermal freezeout of dark matter annihilation in such a scenario. We compute the range of “boost factors” arising from Sommerfeld enhancement in the local halo for models which produce ...

A Brief Review on Dark Matter Annihilation Explanation for e± Excesses in Cosmic Ray

Recently data from PAMELA, ATIC, FERMI-LAT and HESS show that there are e excesses in the cosmic ray energy spectrum. PAMELA observed excesses only in e, but not in anti-proton spectrum. ATIC, FERMI-LAT and HESS observed excesses in e + e spectrum, but the detailed shapes are different which requires future experimental observations to pin down the correct data set. Nevertheless a lot of effort...

New limits on dark matter annihilation from Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer cosmic ray positron data.

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer experiment onboard the International Space Station has recently provided cosmic ray electron and positron data with unprecedented precision in the range from 0.5 to 350 GeV. The observed rise in the positron fraction at energies above 10 GeV remains unexplained, with proposed solutions ranging from local pulsars to TeV-scale dark matter. Here, we make use of this...
